Sophie Sanders: Dreaming in Blue
From the Artist: “My work integrates cyanotype, painting, printmaking, fiber processes, and performance to create surreal, watery worlds and figurative tableaux. Water serves as both material and metaphor: a force of transformation, healing, and survival. In “Clean Water for All” and other projects, I invoke water as muse, environmental mother, and symbolic threshold. I stitched embroidery into this work as an active drawing layer, amplifying the imagery of a sacred circle of shoes standing on water, an emblem of equality of access to clean water.”
Rachel Thorne Germond: Figures in Landscape
Rachel Thorne Germond will exhibit recent ‘figure-in-landscape’ paintings (including both humans and animal figures) evoking dream like states of consciousness set in both realistic and imaginary time and space.
“My paintings reflect a life-long endeavor to combine multiple creative impulses, including visual art, dance, photography, and video. I often work from photographs, which trigger a memory of the sensation of the physical experience of having been in a certain place at a certain time, that I then attempt to translate that experience to the medium of paint. I focus on the use of gesture in painting (with brushwork) – expressing the emotional intent and variations in qualities as if in a dance.”
Vera Sulima: Garden of My Soul
Vera’s body of work is self descried as 3D Mixed Media bas-Relief including colored pencil/ plaster/ paint. Vera is an art teacher from Russia working on art for all of her career. She creates vibrant 3D floral paintings, ceramics, pastel, wool, and all types of medium. She creates paper and uses lots of techniques in her art. She does not consider herself a traditional artist as she uses all types of mediums in her work.
